dc.description.abstractPreparation of nuclear extracts from different tissues may provide the proteins that regulate gene expression in those tissues. REL (rat erythroleukemia) cells represent a permanent erythroid cell line. They are the most convenient model system for studying rat globin gene expression. Nuclear extracts from REL cells were prepared for the first time in our laboratory We also determined the most important steps in the procedure of nuclear protein isolation, as well as the way to control these steps. In this paper we show that nuclear extracts from REL cells contain the transcription factor GATA-1.en
